Help Wanted: Fishers of Men 8-16-24
You Catch Them. Jesus Will Clean Them. Jesus Commissioned Us to Catch the Fish
This is a quote from two perspectives; God’s and man’s. Since God is not confined to time or space; He has no beginning and no end, everything has already been done. However, from the human perspective, we are limited to time and space, there is an ongoing process of us walking through time.
This is what I mean when it comes to God’s perspective. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). Everything has already been done.
My prayer is, the more you read about the perspectives, your eyes will be open; this will give you a whole new mindset. You will see things the way God sees them and you will stop leaning on your own understanding.
Let’s look at spreading the Gospel from our perspective. When Jesus called some of His disciples. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway [immediately] left their nets and followed him (Matthew 4:18-20).
You must know how to reel them in; the right kind of bait (Word) of Rod – (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus told us to teach them. That means you had to have learned enough to carry the Gospel effectively.
Wrong bait- Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. We cannot witness to everybody; we must allow the Spirit of God to lead us to specific people that God appointed us to witness and minister to. If we are not open to the Spirit leading us, then we can be attacked and embarrassed by the demons.
In order to reel them in, we must have the right bait. There is a specific kind of worm that draws the fish, just as the effective way of witnessing the Gospel of Jesus Christ draws sinners (fish).
Right bait – Easy does it, as led by the Spirit of God. We are to be wise as serpents, and humble as doves.
Internet - Matthew 10:16 "Wise as serpents" is a phrase from the Bible, specifically Matthew 10:16 in the King James Version (KJV 1900) and the New King James Version (NKJV)12. The phrase is part of a larger passage in which Jesus is instructing his disciples on how to behave when they are sent out to preach the gospel2. The phrase means to be shrewd and cunning, but not deceitful or harmful12.
Jesus cleaned them through new birth; He washed (cleaned) them, sanctified them. Internet: In the New Testament, Titus 3:5 states that we are washed by the word and saved through the mercy of God. This concept is also found in Ephesians 5:26, where it is mentioned that the washing of water by the word is done to sanctify and cleanse12.
Just took all the scales were taken off Paul’s eyes Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once (Acts 9:18a). Jesus took the scales from our eyes; this was included in the cleansing.
The blind man said, "One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25b)
What are you doing to fulfill the “Great Commission?” Jesus said whoever believes in Him will have eternal life- “Be a fisher of men!”
