How to Reply to a Fool, and Who is a Fool
Some people call others fools for the wrong reason. We should be careful about calling people names. I try my best to avoid calling anyone a fool, even though they may be fools. From the definition below, I ask the readers to make sure they are not a pot calling the kettle black.
· Thoughtless and indifferent to God.
· Characterized by a lack of wisdom.
· Self-centered and disregard moral and ethical principles.
· Individuals who reject God and His teachings.
Display unwise actions, immoral behavior, and prideful attitudes. Watch it when it comes to this one. Are you the pot calling the kettle black?
· The Bible advises against arguing with fools. Proverbs 26:4-14 says, "Do not lower yourself to the fool's level by answering his silly questions or arguing with him as if he were a sensible man. Lest thou also be like unto him; lest you be led to utter folly yourself or to side with him in his opinions and practices."2 Timothy 2:23-26 also advises to stay away from foolish and stupid arguments, as they can grow into bigger arguments.
· Proverbs 18:2: "A fool has no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself."
· Proverbs 1:7: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
· Proverbs 29:11: "A fool utters all his mind: but a wise man keeps it in till afterwards."
· Proverbs 18:6: "A fool starts fights."
· Proverbs 12:16: "A fool is easily upset. Does this apply to you? Are you guilty?
·
· "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God'" is a quote from Psalm 14:1 in the New King James Version of the Bible. The psalm speaks of the foolishness of living as if God did not exist. The verse describes those who deny God as corrupt and having done abominable works, and states that there is none who does good.
· Parable of the rich fool - Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’
So, he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God (Luke 12:16-21).
Consider all the things the Word of God says about fools and stay away from them! I use this phrase: “You’re bigger than that” or, “Don’t lower yourself to their level” Trying to prove a point with a fool comes from pride. And before you call someone a fool, remember the definition of a fool.
