Happy Labor Day!
Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers, observed on the first Monday in September12. The holiday was declared a national holiday in 18942. The roots of Labor Day grew out of violent clashes between labor and police during the Haymarket Riot in 1886, when thousands of workers in Chicago took to the streets to demand an eight-hour workday2. Labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being1.
Thanks be to God for those who did not give up in their efforts, and because of their persistence we are able to celebrate “Labor Day”
For the born-again, don’t let your labor be in vain, keep on ministering in whatever capacity you’ve been called, and one day when your laboring is over, you will be rewarded. For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister (Hebrews 6:10).
Enjoy this last day of the summer holiday!
