Family LOVE!
Good morning family and friends! How many of you know that God’s grace is sufficient for whatever the situation is?
Yesterday, several events were taking place at the same time in different locations. I was not feeling well in my body, but God’s grace helped me to endure and get things accomplished despite the affliction.
In fact, the ones that the Lord had me to be with never knew what I was experiencing. This is why – recently, we found out that my nephew from North Carolina desired to be in New Jersey with us to celebrate his birthday.
To those who don’t understand how to listen to the Spirit of God, and be in tune with what He is saying, I am here to assure you that obedience is better that sacrifice. Although it was a sacrifice to assist in serving, that’s different than sacrificing precious time to do whatever we want to do. For instance, one can serve in many area and they sacrifice their time, but being obedient to the Lord is rewarding.
Sometimes I want to go places, and the Lord will allow something to take place to prevent me from following through with my plans. That happens because He knows that in my innermost, I choose to follow His lead.
Back to yesterday and the joyful time of fellowship with some family and friends. Thanks to Reggie’s wife for driving him from Greensboro and her friend who sacrificed her time to take the long trip with them. Most of all we thank the Lord for allowing us to fellowship together one more time, with a delicious southern style meal to his liking.
I also thank the Lord for my niece who allowed me to host the gathering at her place. The Lord topped it off by sending my niece’s friends whom she had not seen in a few years, and I had not seen them since I had moved back to New Jersey.
This is how God works- something came up during a conversation that led us to the Word of God. This reminded us of years ago when we fellowshipped together mainly to share the Word.
That was a powerful move! Deuteronomy, chapter 28 was read and discussed pertaining to our true heritage and why we are still suffering today because of our forefathers’ disobedience. I also had the opportunity to share that even though we as a people are low on the “Totem-pole” God’s Word is true and He provides for me - And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
I have not missed a beat, and I am not ashamed to tell of His goodness. Today, I am heading to church; thanks be to our Father who gives me the strength in my weakest times, to keep it moving.
Additionally - Although many of our loved ones were involved in different events in various places, let’s not forget that we were separated physically only; LOVE has no distance.
One last thing- During my trip to North Carolina in July, I had a desire to see one of the surviving member of my mother’s group (the Wells Singers).
The Lord opened the door of opportunity, and my god sister and I went to visit her. After I came home last night, there was a phone conversation between my god sister and me. She said that hospice was coming to the dear sister’s home and said it was a matter of time.
That’s an example of being obedient to whatever the Spirit of God is prompting us to do. Even though they said it was a matter of time for the lady, it really is a matter of time for all of us because our days are numbered. Family and friends, let LOVE be our innermost desire.
To know LOVE is to know GOD!
