O’ Christmas Tree 12-23-24

Oak Tree symbolic of Christ
Amtrak- 30th Street Station, Philadelphia

I love Christmas trees, because of the lights that illuminate from them. It reminds me of Jesus and how He brought light into a dark sinful world. But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals (Revelation 5:5).

When I think about a tree, roots of the tree come to mind. When anything exists, there has to be a root cause. For instance, one must be rooted and grounded on the foundation of Christ.

When I thought about the poem Tree by Rudyard Kipling, it was not an accident that the Spirit of God had me see another poem published by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr.  that would be a blessing to each of us. The poem is on Burnett Ministries website. The poem was “The Oak Tree “and its symbolism.

This is from the human standpoint- The oak tree is symbolic of power, love and commitment, stability, nobility, protection and healing, honor, strength, knowledge, and wisdom. Spiritually each meaning symbolizes Jesus Christ.

I am sharing with you the spiritual aspect of the oak tree being symbolic of Jesus Christ.

Power -  All power is given to me in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18). Love – No one could ever love like Jesus: He gave His life that we could have eternal life (John  3:16).

Commitment – No was able to commit themselves to suffer and die for the salvation of humanity. Internet: Jesus was totally committed to God by living righteously, suffering on the cross, and committing Himself to God with His last words and final breaths13

Stability – He was not only committed to God and humanity, but Jesus also stood firm on everything He did, because He counted the cost. For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it (Luke 14:28).

Nobility – Therefore He said: "A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return (Luke 19:12). This is symbolic of Jesus giving responsibilities (ministry) to the born again believers. He went back to heaven and after a long time, He came back (after the rapture) we must give account of our deeds.

Protection – The shield of faith protects us with God’s promises. This protective weapon helps us “extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one” (Ephesians 6:16). The enemy constantly seeks to attack us by shooting arrows of doubt, temptation, and deception into our hearts and minds, causing us to fall and act faithlessly. Healing – By Jesus’ stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24)

Strength – looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).

Although Jesus symbolizes the oak tree; who is the Root and foundation of our faith, most of us experienced the wrong kind of roots (deeply embedded), prior to our new life. Yet, the Root of David’s, Jesus Christ, came to set us free (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18, John 8:32, 36). Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1).
