Wanted, Lost Souls! 10-8-24
Do you remember the TV series “Wanted, Dead or Alive”
Storyline- Actor Steve McQueen
Josh Randall is a Confederate veteran and bounty hunter with a soft heart. He often donates his earnings to the needy and helps his prisoners if they have been wrongly accused. Randall carries a shortened Winchester Model 1892 carbine called the "Mare's Leg" and can draw and fire his weapon with blazing speed. - Source: Wikipedia.org
Bounty hunters are usually hired by a bail bondsman to find convicted felons on the run trying to avoid trial. Bail bondsmen usually loan the bail money to defendants under the condition that they show up to court. Right from the start the show had the coolest lead-in ever with the camera focused squarely on Josh Randall's 'hogleg' as he slowly walks up to a wanted poster and rips it away from the board. There was something 'mighty' intriguing about the lone bounty hunter who brought in many more bad guys alive than dead.
When I thought about the TV show and the message “Wanted, lost souls,” I saw how the bounty hunter was really trying to help the criminal, rather than harm them. I depict these people as lost souls who needed a Savior. If one looks at the storyline from a spiritual perspective, Jesus was like a “Bounty Hunter” For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10).
The Bounty Hunter brought in more live bad guys than dead. I can also identify with that; there is no hope for a dead person. For him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion (Ecclesiastes 9:4).
In comparing the “Bounty Hunter” with Jesus, I see symbolism, or similarity. When I go to a secular movie, I always look for something spiritual that can be taken away, and my friends, I see Jesus Christ as THE BOUNTY HUNTER who came to seek lost souls.
Why not be a bounty hunter if you are born-again. After all, we have been commissioned to GO! And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen (Matthew 28:18-20).
Souls are especially important to me; I am a bounty hunter!
