This message is a follow up from yesterday’s post. These are some additional scriptures pertaining to going against those in authority. In the context of Jude 1:10, "dignitaries" [government authority] refers to both heavenly beings like angels and earthly leaders who are appointed by God.

Internet- Those who speak evil of them are essentially challenging the very structure of God's authority, much like a child who refuses to listen to their parents.

And especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries (2 Peter 2:10).

Likewise, these dreamers also defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.  Yet Michael the archangel, in contending [argued] with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

But these speak evilly of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. Woe [trouble] to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah (Jude 1:8-11).

Instead of coming against Satan, Michael said: “The Lord rebuke you!”  As evil as Satan was, Michael let the Lord take care of him. So, Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord. And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day (Deuteronomy 34:5-6).

If the people knew where his grave was, they would have worshiped Moses (a dead man) and made a god of him.

Aaron and Miriam spoke against Moses - Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. So, they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.  (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)

Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So, the three came out. 5 Then the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.

Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; he is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?”

So, the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed.  And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper (Numbers 12:1-11).

FYI- Aaron and Miriam coming against Moses because of his wife was an Ethiopian, had nothing to do with the complexion of her skin. They were from different tribes. Moses was from the tribe of Levites and his wife Zipporah was a Midianite (Exodus 2:1-2a). All of them were dark skin people.

Bottom line is this: Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king (1 Peter 2:17). Although God is loving, gracious, merciful, and so much more, He does not play.
