“Send Me, I’ll Go” 9-8-24
It was on August 27, 2000, when I received my earthly license to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations. Two years later (2002) I was ordained into ministry, and I have been pressing forward ever since.
As I reflect on those years, it has been such an encouragement to think about all the people
from many places that came to support me. There were relatives and friends in the surrounding towns near where I lived, and many from out of state- Yeadon, Pa., Philadelphia, Lawnside and Camden, New Jersey, Brooklyn, Ruffin, North Carolina, and other areas in Rockingham County.
After being licensed and ordained into ministry, I wore several hats, such as youth minister (leader over the children's church, leader of the evangelism class, taught a class at the "Need to Feed Ministry" and Senior program, wrote and presented plays at my church and other places in the surrounding community, drove the church van, presided at and preached funerals, Boy Scout chaplain, and worked in the office, supervised a “Summer Enrichment Program” for the youth.
Through ups and downs; ins, and outs, falling and the Lord picking me up. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. (Psalm 37:3-4).
Through trials and persecutions; Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12); Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you (Matthew 5:11-12). I made it this far by God’s grace, and God’s grace will carry me on.
To all my friends and family who are still living, thank you so much for supporting me then and at the present time. This includes the late James Watkins who recognized my call and put forth every effort to get me licensed as evangelist, but the association only accepted reverends. Thanks to the moderator of that association who encouraged me to shake the dust from my feet and move forward in my calling. Thanks to Pastor James Fisher who recognized and helped me to walk in the call by licensing and being instrumental in me being ordained. Most of all, to God be the glory for what He has done, for what He is doing and for what He is going to do.
This is my words of encouragement that I desire for the readers to take away from this message. Please don’t try to open doors that are shut, because there is a specific reason and it’s for your good. When God opens doors, no one can shut them!
