Helping (healing) the Downhearted 8-26-24
Being bound by roots is like a root bound plant that eventually dies, if it is not put in a bigger so it can flourish. A dead plant is useless; one with deeply embedded roots cannot minister effectively.
This message stems from an experience I had a couple of days ago. My friend and I went for a walk and decided to stop and sit on bench outside a store. A man came up and a conversation started. He told us he had been a pastor, and a teacher, and he had fallen from grace (out of fellowship with the Lord).
This person was beating himself up and allowing the devil to put him in condemnation. I shared with him how all of God’s children at some point in their lives are not in fellowship with the Lord.
The man thought he would stand before Christ and give account of taking someone’s life in the past. What we must give account of, is our service; this is when we either get rewards or lose rewards according to how we fulfilled God’s purpose in our lives. This has nothing to do with salvation; it’s all about rewards (1 Corinthians 3:11-15).
Many times, the posts are either from my own experiences or someone else’s. Today, you will read about deeply embedded roots that caused them to be downhearted.
Jesus came to set the captives free, and He wants us to do the same thing. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18).
Biblical definition of broken hearted - (broken, to break in pieces).
Downhearted is an adjective that means unhappy and having no hope, especially because of a disappointment or failure. It is also defined as feeling depressed or sad.
I connect this definition with deeply embedded roots that everyone has, dating back to their childhood. It is sad that most people are either in denial, maybe ashamed, or don’t know how to be delivered. Therefore, they go through their entire lives of not living victoriously.
Please do not be ashamed to let others know how God delivered you, or if you have known the person so well that they would be pleased to allow you to share how the Lord delivered them.
Stories and testimonies are written all over the Bible. Do you think Paul is alive to share his ugly past, and his awesome deliverance? How did we find out how Abraham had sex outside of his marriage. God had it written to encourage us by letting us know that everybody has issues.
I write what the Spirit of God gives me; if people don’t know other’s stories, and why they are in the situation they’re in, it’s best to keep quiet. If anyone is ashamed of a family or friend who have not lived up to par from their view, they don’t understand that God uses what some call “Nobodies” to serve His purpose. It’s the heady and high-minded that God resists- God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
Don’t look down on anyone unless you’re picking them up. Please don’t tell somebody not to share a story; you don’t know how the Spirit is dealing with that person or what He is prompting them to say. On that note, it is better not to say anything and say something that make you look foolish. Learn to be quiet (1 Thessalonians 4:11).
