Eternal life means to be saved (rescued from sin), redeemed-purchased with a costly price by Someone who did not have any sin (The Lord Jesus Christ). It is salvation, which is a gift from God. The KEY to salvation is to have a relationship with Christ, which is different from knowing about Him, but a relationship is to know Him personally.

Can a born again believer lose his or her salvation? I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10:28-29). Who could be so foolish to think they have more power than God, if they can snatch themselves out of God’s hands.

Are children of God still sinners? One cannot be a sinner and a saint at the same time. In Paul’s writings he never addressed saved people as sinners, “called to be saints” in several scriptures. Some people will say that Paul identified himself as the chief of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). That would not make sense to justify why someone would call himself a sinner. In reading Paul’s epistles, it is known that because he persecuted the very church of God, that nothing could have been worse. Not only that, if Paul were still a sinner, how could he have eternal life and go to heaven and live throughout eternity.
Paul himself said that nothing good dwells in the flesh (Romans, chapter 7:13-24). The scriptures were saying that the law could not save anyone from sin. Paul was excellent at writing the difference between law and grace, and how the two could not be mixed. The law only made us aware of our sins.
This scripture definitely is proof that Paul was not a sinner. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearance. (2 Timothy 4:6-8)

Are saved people sinners saved by grace? The people saved were sinners who are saved by grace. The word is past tense, this is the proper way to tell someone “You were a sinner, but you you have been saved by grace.” For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Can a Christian walk away from God? If your child decides to leave home, is he still your child? Example – The Prodigal son walked away from his father and eventually returned. (Luke 15:14-24) In the natural a person may walk away, but spiritually one can never be separated from God. Once we have the Spirit of God in us, He never leaves us. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5b) Those who are saved never lose their relationship with God. We fall into sin, or we sin, which takes us out of fellowship with God, but it has nothing to do with our relationship with Him (1 John 1:9).
We were baptized into Christ by the Spirit of God. For by one Spirit, we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13).
The same powerful Spirit has sealed us. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30) The Holy Spirit is sad when we are not allowing His power to work in and through us. We have been given the power to believe by faith, that we are forever the sons and daughters of the Most High God.
