The change will happen so fast in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. There are two scriptures that actually relate to the rapture; one in the Old Testament and one in the New Testament.
God is going to connect all the atoms instantly, reconnect them to the old body and it will be changed from mortal to immortality (it will never die again); once it reaches heaven it will be a new body; the corruptible will be changed to incorruptible (it will never decay). Our bodies and spirit will rejoin.

Proof that there will be a Rapture (to be snatched or taken up): In the Old Testament Noah and his family of eight were similar to the Lord taking His children out of the world before He destroyed it. Similarly, the Lord will take us out of this wicked world before the worse event in the history of humans take place.
And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So, He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing, and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days (Genesis 7:21-24).
New Testament proof that just came to me a couple days ago: Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. (Acts 1:9-11)
When is Jesus coming back? But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus, we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Further confirmation of the Rapture: 1 Corinthians 15:51-58. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruption must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? “The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
I don’t know about you, but I am waiting with expectation for the Lord’s return. Sometimes I look out my window and just thinking that it will happen right away.

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly. “Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20-21).
